Mziki Safari Lodge

Owned by the Pallamar family since the 1990s, Mziki Safari Lodge was designed for eco-travellers seeking an authentic wildlife experience. Nestled within a 6 000 ha private game reserve, just two hours from Johannesburg, Mziki Safari Lodge stands as a testament to the family’s commitment to offering an intimate, accessible and personal encounter with the African wilderness.

The family’s goal is to offer guests of all ages the opportunity to discover the beauty of the bush, and understanding the value of sustainability through conserving our environment.

Mziki Safari Lodge is one of the most children-friendly private game lodges in the region, with customised menus for younger guests and junior ranger courses where children from age 6+ can learn about the environment, animal behaviour, spoor reading and survival skills like shelter building, water purifying or how to make fire.

Purpose-built accommodation catering for families include three family suites with two bedrooms each, and three garden chalets with sleeper couches. There are also two rondavels sleeping two guests each. All accommodation types feature modern décor, spacious bathrooms and luxurious amenities.

Mziki Safari Lodge is perfect for families and multi-generational groups, providing a wealth of activities for all ages. From game drives, bush walks, engaging in the junior ranger courses,  fishing on the Hex River and barge cruises on the Vaalkop Dam (subject to water levels), to volleyball, archery, relaxing by the sparkling pool or indulging in spa treatments in the comfort of your room or beneath the shade of the trees, there is something for everyone.

Mziki’s rangers are passionate about sharing their knowledge of the habitat and wildlife, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience for all guests. The reserve is home to 372 bird species and over 50 species of mammals, including four of the Big Five (excluding lion). During the course of 2024, the lodge introduced cheetah and the majestic sable antelope to the reserve, marking the beginning of a profound re-wilding project.

For corporate guests, there is a fully equipped conference room catering for up to 18 delegates.

In a continuous effort to enhance the guest experience, Mziki Safari Lodge will be closed for renovations during May and June 2024. The renovation will see a total conversion of the main lodge building, including a new entrance and an expanded interior area offering panoramic views. The upgrade will introduce an indoor dining section, a cozy fireplace with a coffee counter, a kids’ corner, library, and a small shop, all designed to further enrich the Mziki experience.
